A native of Dearborn, Michigan Scott has spent the last eight years honing his stand-up comedy act among the many talented comics in Houston, TX. Scott has worked on comedy stages across the country with both the BEST and worst comedians in the business. He has also had the pleasure of entertaining our troops in Korea, Japan and Guam.  You can also hear Scott’s CD, “Dirty White Boy”, on XM Satellite Radio. This high energy comic still leaves the audience hysterical with laughter when heading out the exit door, and that’s just one of many reasons why we are happy to have comedian Scott White as our guest today in 7 questions. 7 Questions with Garrett Stevens of Evolution Beat

by Ryan Meehan

Evolution Beat’s fusion of pop and contemporary ska began in the Ventura County / Los Angeles underground where Garrett Stevens built a strong following as the primary songwriter, vocalist and guitarist in the band Elevator Ska – among a well-versed history of other SoCal bands – prior to teaming up with producer and studio musician Kerwin “Skooter” Williams.  Williams has worked with other artists such as Snoop Dogg on notable television and film scores, while also in high demand for his talents as a session bassist.  The duo formalized their partnership in early 2013 when Stevens and Williams co-wrote the radio single “Love Me More”, at the same time creating a new sound that neither of their former bands had previously produced.  The resulting track ended up becoming a poppy, dance infused single that became a part of the band’s five song EP released on Golden Planet Records.  We are delighted to have Garrett Stevens of Evolution Beat as our guest today in 7 questions.  Continue reading

7 Questions with Eric Grady

000000000000000000000000000000000000000eric

by Ryan Meehan

National touring comedian Eric Grady is the “World’s Tallest Comedian”, and has been making audiences “bust their guts”, “cry”, and even “pee a little” (actual quotes from audience members) from laughing since 1995 with his hilarious, edgy, and fresh standup comedy. Eric’s comedy career began in South Florida. Well actually, it began in Charlotte, NC. He did his first open mic in Charlotte and he loved it. He kept coming back as often as he could, but Eric was living in Myrtle Beach, SC at the time so it was hard to get back to Charlotte for an open mic night. After doing about 10 or so open mics, in 1998 Eric moved to Charlotte, and got married. Sadly, after a few years, the marriage was over, and in 2001 Eric moved to Ft Lauderdale, FL, where he promptly got back into comedy open mics. After spending a couple of years in Florida, Eric moved back to Myrtle Beach, SC, doing comedy often. Eventually in 2006, he moved to New York City where he worked about 2000 shows in 2 years. And finally, in 2008, Eric moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he resides, today. Eric stays busy with stand-up. He’s honed his ‘rapid fire’, physical comedy to be quick, sharp, and hilarious. Today, Eric is still shy, still funny, and still tall. He’s 6’9′, which is why a lot of people know him as ‘the World’s Tallest Comedian’. Eric comedy has been described as ‘Very funny’ by Comedian; Wendy Liebman, and ‘Fresh, original’, by Comedian; Fred Klett, adding; “No one is doing what (Eric’s) doing”. And he’s physically funny, using his height and his weight to do mind-bending, body bending comedy. You can catch Eric at a comedy club near you, and he’s my guest today in 7 questions. The Blogger’s Roast of J-Dub

Dubsism

SportsChump: As part of marking the 1,000th post on Dubsism, a few fellow bloggers and fans thought it might not be a bad idea to honor the man behind Dubsism with an old-fashioned roast.  Not the Dean Martin or Comedy Central type, we’re talking about shoving an apple in that fat fuckers’ mouth, tossing him on a spit and feeding 75% of Africa.  But since there are laws against that sort of stuff, and even those kids Sally Struthers hasn’t eaten yet won’t eat meat that tastes of bourbon and despair.  Not to mention, that whole cannibalism thing is only OK if you are a South American soccer team stranded in the Andes.

So, we went right back to the Dean Martin thing. We all broke out our tuxedos, or in J-Dubs’ case – his tarp with a…

10 Questions with April Richardson

April Richardson

by Ryan Meehan

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, April Richardson moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college (later than most people do). Growing up, she was always obsessed with comedy and was always, as the expression goes, the “class clown.” She never realized you could get paid for being obnoxious and disruptive until she moved to L.A. and got a job on E!’s hit show Chelsea Lately — Hollywood dreams, they do come true!  Since Chelsea Lately ended, she has toured with Dana Gould and Chris Hardwick, and have appeared several times on Comedy Central’s hit show @midnight. She’s published her own photocopied zine since the age of 14, and has been a blogger since way back in 1997.  April created and hosted the popular Go Bayside Podcast for nearly two years, and has seen Morrissey live in concert over a hundred times.  She even made Lord of the Underworld Glenn Danzig laugh once, which was the deciding factor in qualifying April Richardson as my guest today in 10 questions.
