The FOH Super Bowl XLIX Preview Extravagantacular

by Ryan Meehan

After a season of some fantastic NFL football – as well as a lot of real stinkers – Super Bowl XLIX is finally here.  For the second straight year, both one seeds in their respective conference will be appearing in the big game.  It should be one of the best Super Bowl in recent years, and after saying that about last year’s shitstorm it had better be.  The football Gods kind of owe us a good one here, as we had high expectations for last year’s game and it ended up being terrible.  We’ve still never had a Super Bowl go into overtime, and that’s something that every fan wants to see before they end up like Morgan Freeman’s character at the end of The Bucket List.  (Spoiler alert)  This one’s for all of the marbles, a saying that would be a decent analogy if anybody still played with marbles in 2015.  Sunday night we will get to see the Fourty-Ninth Super Bowl in NFL history, and this is the First Order Historians Super Bowl XLIX Extravagantacular.

The Deep Six: Why ESPN And Other Sports Networks Need To Move Past “Deflategate”‏ So We Can Get On With This “Super Bowl” Thing

by Ryan Meehan

By now, we’ve already become familiar with the NFL’s latest manufactured scandal involving the New England Patriots, which has affectionately been dubbed “Deflategate” by several media sources who probably have no business discussing professional football matters.  Although I do respect certain camps of opinion with regards to different moments in sports history, I’m not buying anybody who is throwing a hissy fit about this situation.  On an overall scale, this is merely a blip on the radar of sports “scandals” that have taken place over the years.  Hell, it’s barely number three this year when you consider the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson incident…so what’s the big fuss all about?

I get that a lot of people will revert back to the ethics argument here and say that any form of cheating is wrong.  I would strongly suggest that although I’d love for this article to be read from start to finish, you might at least want to check out the header of point three before we get started.  For the rest of you who think I may have a valid point, let’s go Deep Six on Deflategate and find out why the New England Patriots Ball Deflation Scandal is nothing that the league or anybody who watches it should be seriously concerned with.    Continue reading

2014: The Year the World Didn’t End Again, Part Two

I actually shot two sex tapes this year

By Ryan Meehan

Welcome back.  In the first installment of the end of year piece, we took a look at some things that were inherently positive.  Since you know that isn’t really me, I feel like now we need to take a look at some of the things that have been going on which are completely awful.  There was plenty of that in 2014, so let’s take a look at some of the things that made us want to drive into a brick wall over the past twelve months.

The Official Meehan 2014-2015 NFC Preview‏

NFC logo

by Ryan Meehan

The NFL is finally right around the corner, and I’m breathing a huge sigh of relief. Finally football is back on television, and things are back to normal in the sporting world.

When I originally started this piece, it was this extremely long article that covered the league from top to bottom and included the playoffs. But then I realized that before editing it was almost 28 pages long, so I decided to divide it into three parts. Today we’ll start off the week with the NFC, then move to the AFC on Wednesday, and close it out on Friday by taking a look at the playoffs. Continue reading
