Taking comedy audiences by storm since 2004, Ben Roy brings an unparalleled energy and unique voice to stage. Roy cut his comedic teeth in Denver at the legendary Comedy Works. Since then, he has been selected to perform at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, LA Riot Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Festival, Austin’s South by Southwest festival, and many more. He’s also been featured on HBO’s Funny as Hell series; in the John Wenzel Book Mock Stars: Indie Comedy and Dangerously Funny (alongside comedy greats like Patton Oswalt and Fred Armisen); and on the Comedy Central Show Adam DeVine’s House Party. Roy’s debut stand-up album, I Got Demons, was released in 2012 and ranked one of the “10 Best Comedy Albums of the year” by Laughspin. His second stand-up album, No Enlightenment in Sobriety, was released 2014. Most recently, Roy recorded his third stand-up album in March 2015 at Comedy Works. Roy and fellow Denver Comedians Adam Cayton-Holland and Andrew Orvedahl (who collectively perform as The Grawlix) recently moved to LA where they are shooting 10 episodes for their new TruTV series Those Who Can’t, which is expected air in early 2016. Following that announcement, Variety named The Grawlix trio one of their “Top 10 Comics to Watch in 2015”. In addition to stand-up comedy, Roy is a prolific musician, currently the lead singer of SPELLS and I am very lucky to have him as my guest today in 10 questions.  Continue reading

On Wednesday, May 20th, the last episode of The Late Show with David Letterman will air on CBS.  The show will mark the end of an era in late-night television, one which saw Dave become a fixture on the central focus of living rooms throughout the United States and eventually the world.  Letterman will be replaced by Comedy Central alumnus Stephen Colbert, who will have to shed the faux-conservative persona he worked so tirelessly to develop but will likely do Dave’s time slot a tremendous amount of justice.  Nevertheless, his departure will leave a monumental void in the world of network television entertainment.   Continue reading

by Ryan Meehan

It all began in church at the age of five…one Sunday the preacher called all the kids at the Southern Baptist church to the front to ask some questions. When the preacher asked a small tow-headed boy what he thought hell would be like, he calmly replied, “Preacher, hell will be hotter than the Wal-Mart parking lot on the Fourth of July, barefoot.” The church erupted with laughter, the little boy was hooked on the sound and a comic was born. Fast forward 25 years and Tim Gaither has been a comedian for 14 years, 12 professionally, working in 35 states so far and Korea for the U.S troops. In January 2009, Tim made the move to Hollywood. Since the move he has been seen on the Bob and Tom show, won the honor of “Best of Festival” at the Detroit International Comedy festival, become a paid regular at the historic Comedy and Magic Club, Comedy Store, Improv, and Laugh Factory in Hollywood and Long Beach. Tim is also a regular headliner at the Tropicana Laugh Factory in Vegas, where he filmed his first hour special in March of 2013. Tim Gaither has no specific audience, he is hilarious to all ages and ethnicities and he is a heckler’s nightmare. Great material, quick wit, and a wide range of original characters and stories, all spun together with Midwestern charm make his show a must see. More comfortable on a stage than in his own living room, he makes audience feel like he is in theirs. If Tim comes to your city don’t miss the opportunity to check out his show, you will not be disappointed. It is only a matter of time before Tim Gaither is a household name, in the meantime he will be touring the country, enjoying the journey, and doing what he was born to do.
