7 Questions with Paul Virzi

By Ryan Meehan

Growing up, comedian Paul Virzi was always making people laugh – something that he continues to do today.  He makes waves and raises eyebrows every time he touches a microphone.  Back in 2000 while still in high school, he entered a contest called “Hudson Valley’s Funniest Man”  in Upstate New York where he placed second.  Many of the nation’s top comedy clubs have called him one of the strongest up and comers working today.  Paul’s standup can be heard on Sirius/XM radio daily, and some of his other credits include FOH favorite Fox News Channel’s “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”, Spike-TV’s Best Gang Ever, and writing for the ESPY Awards.  Recently he performed on “Gotham Comedy Live” and he was selected to perform at the “Just for Laughs” comedy festival in Montreal.  He also has become a regular guest on “The Artie Lange Show”.  Paul never fails in keeping the laughs coming and making the audience feel comfortable with his hard hitting approach.  He is fun to watch and has a great stage presence, and he’s our guest today in 7 questions.  Continue reading

Album Review: Deicide – “In the Minds of Evil” – 11/25/13

deicide

On Tuesday, death metal legends Deicide released their new album “In The Minds of Evil”.  We previewed the single a couple of months back when it was leaked ( http://firstorderhistorians.com/2013/10/01/new-deicide-single-leaked-in-the-minds-of-evil-title-track-from-album-to-be-released-november-25th/ ) but today we’ve decided to take a look at how the entire record shapes up compared to their long and storied history of double kick pounding and bible bashing.

As a Christian, the idea of Deicide is something that fascinates me because I highly doubt these dudes are into some seriously Satanic shit.  I think they say things and phrase things a certain way to get a rise out of people, and it works.  I don’t really believe that the guys in Deicide leave their house every morning out to legitimately convince people that they believe the devil is a red, horned alien looking weirdo that is rooting for you to watch more porn.  Those guys want to show the world who can really play metal, and they want you to very much understand that it’s them. NFL Week Thirteen Preview

by Ryan Meehan and Coach Ryan
Thanksgiving is upon us, meaning the holidays are in full swing.  So I’d like to step on my soapbox for a minute and remind everyone to please support your local businesses whenever possible.  It puts money back into the community, but it’s YOUR community.  It increases sales tax revenue that is used to fund projects in the places where you live.  So this year, skip Amazon and go to your local bookstore.  What was this article supposed to be about?  That’s right…football.  Time for gathering around the table and sharing some more dry tasting food for yet another year.  This week there are some great games, so let’s see what’s going down…

NFL Week Twelve Wrapup

by Ryan Meehan and Coach Ryan

On Sunday CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora confirmed on Sunday morning that Seattle Seahawks cornerback Walter Thurmond will begin serving a four game suspension next week for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.  As previously mentioned, this seems to be an issue in the Seahawks secondary.  This is what I want to know – That mysterious middleman between every team and the league that makes all of these A samples disappear and makes all of these B samples show up negative – Does Seattle just not have that guy’s number?  Seriously, with all of the crazy stuff that you DON’T hear about players getting away with, you’d think there would be more damage control there.  It’s turned into a total free-for-all.  As a matter of fact, when you go to everyone’s favorite search engine and type in “Seahawks CB suspended”, a window pops up and says “Look, we’re only Google…What do you want from us?”  But there was plenty of news on the field as well, so let’s see what transpired in week twelve of the NFL season…

NFL WEEK TWELVE PREVIEW

by Ryan Meehan and Coach Ryan

Here at FOH we try to discuss what goes on in the field of play as opposed to the hype machine that surrounds the non-stories other websites will toss down your throat.  Koz isn’t going to like this, but there are two stories that should be non-issues here and one of them involves his team.  The New England Patriots faced a do-or-die situation on the last play of their Monday Night game with Carolina.  There was a flag that suggested that another untimed down was to take place, but it was picked up because of a judgment call.  The other was a Washington Redskins Offensive lineman (whose name I refuse to mention) that has opened a whole different can of worms because he is accusing a referee of swearing at him – not something that would have happened thirty years ago.  The point here is:  Both of these are non-stories, and this is what will really be happening on the field this upcoming weekend.
